On Tuesday Dall went in for a microdiscectomy which is typically performed for a lumbar herniated disc by removing bone and/or disc material from the nerve root to relieve a pinched nerve. We got there at 1:30 p.m. He was taken back to the nurse station at about 1:50 they did some lab work, took his blood pressure which was extremely high not unusual for him and was told to undress and wear a green "dress" (as he calls it). While we were waiting they started an IV and the nurse called what was in the IV similar to Gatorade. Which from then on that was the official name for the clear Gatorade shooting into his arm. We had the physical therapist come in and explain some exercises, the anesthesiologist came in and took him to the operating room at about 4. My heart sunk I wanted to cry but I held it together and remained strong (unusual for me :))I was instructed to go to the waiting room and just wait. Which I did really impatiently. The worst thoughts went through my head. What if something goes wrong? what would I do without him? As I thought all these horrible things a peaceful feeling came over me and I sat quiet. At about 5:50 Dr. Hood came out to see me. It was like I had seen an angel. He told me the surgery went well. He had a huge smile on his face as he said "your husband is a cheap drunk" hahaha he's having a hard time waking up. He said he found some particles in his disc that were really unusual for his age but he took care of it. I was so happy to hear the good news. I finally got to see Dallin at about 6:55. He asked me where he was hahaha. I had waited forever for him (that's what it seemed like to me anyway) But I was soooooooo happy to see him. I love him so much. He is now home recovering. He is doing a lot better today. And from here on it looks like a painless back for my Dallin. :) Yay for drs. that care and have clear minds and no shaky hands!
so glad everything went well.
