A Really Sick Boy

A lot has happened since I posted last but I must record this event so I can later come back to it and realize how blessed we are. This last Wednesday Dallin was to leave to Philly as part of the plan. Well that was a crazy morning trying to get ready and finalize things when suddenly Blake started just freaking out...Dallin took his temperature and it was at 106...without hesitation we took him to the dr. At this point I was already freaking out because Dall was leaving in a few hours and I was going to be left by myself with a really sick boy that had no insurance for the time being we are in the middle of moving and are trying to get a plan out in Philly...Blake was finally seen and we were told that he had hand, foot & mouth disease...the dr. took a strep test and it came back negative. She couldn't really figure out why the fever was so high. We were sent home with instructions and were told to monitor his fever and go back in if it got any worse. WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Dallin left to Philly and sure enough Blake got worse waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse.....that was the worst night of my life. He started screaming like crazy telling me really weird stuff...he was delirious and burning up....I took his temperature and it read 107.8 I totally lost it...I went up to wake up my mother-in-law she put Blake in the tub and I called the dr. One of our good neighbors happened to be awake and kindly gave Blake a really sweet blessing. I felt terrified my baby's eyes were going back, he was shaky, and totally hallucinating we took him to the dr. and at this point they were really questioning if he even had the disease this seem like something else. He was given some medication, he had a Popsicle, we put cold rags on him, and try to give him water....the dr. suspected a UTI because of the high fever....after the medication his fever at the dr's office went down to 106 after a couple of hours of observation they did bring it down to 102 The dr. took a urine sample and told me that she wanted to order some labs soon. She was hesitating cause we were self pay and had no insurance. Well so far everything has come back negative. Blake's fever has gone up and down like a roller coaster. His dr. told me that its one of the highest fevers she's seen in a while. She is surprised that he didn't have seizures. He is a really strong boy. When I got home I poured my heart out to the Lord and pleaded with him to pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee help my baby. I would do anything obviously the medicine wasn't working too well....He got another blessing and his uncle commanded the virus to leave his little body...He is doing a lot better today...his fever its been going up and down but to reasonable numbers its staying at about 102. I haven't slept since Wednesday but I am soooooooooooooo glad that my baby is doing better. I'll never forget this experience and I am so glad to have the priesthood in my life. I'm greatful that my mother-in law was there to help me and my kind friend Liseth was so willing to be there for me. I can't believe this had to happen when his Dad was in the East Coast. NOT COOL!!!!!!!!!! at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still don't know how the pioneer moms burried their babies along the way...I guess I'm a weak human being but it had to be them cause the Lord knows me well and he knows I couldn't do something like that.....Please pray for him we still never found out what was going on with him they still think its viral......Thank goodness for the priesthood and a kind Heavenly Father who hears our prayers :) I learned a very valuable lesson NEVER BE WITHOUT INSURANCE OUCH

Lake Powell

You know you have a good family when you put 40 people in 1 houseboat and no problems arise. I was really impressed with how everyone handled our crowds this year. Everyone got along just fine. We did have a few kids that got sick but nothing major, we weren't too far away from the Marina so a couple of trips were made to the doctor. We really had a good time, we had really good home made meals, tonssss of playing as a family, lots of snacks including my sooooo called Splashy Susi's Salsa in a Skippy jar :) I guess that's an inside joke but my salsa turned out to be a hit and I was soooo excited!!!! Blake absolutely loved the trip. He enjoyed every second of it. He had the time of his life and didn't want to leave. I got a few bites on my leg but I survived. Dallin of course had to try to do something even though he has a bad back. He learned how to surf behind the boat. Fortunately it's pretty smooth and it didn't cause any problems with his back. He loved it!!! We will miss Lake Powell I can't believe I'm saying this :) I really enjoyed everyone's company and I even got sad the last day cause it might be our last trip out there for a while. I've made a huge progress with my Lake Powell trips!!! Even though sleeping accommodations got a bit tight we all worked as a family to get everyone nice and comfy and it all worked out in the end............Till we meet again Lake Powell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Palmer Family Reunion

It is amazing to think that from 1 mom and 1 dad many generations are created. This weekend we had the opportunity to go to the family reunion that the Palmers have every five years. It was held in Southern Utah in Cedar City up in one of the lodges in the canyon. Woooooooooooow there are A LOT of Palmers. There's no way I was going to learn all the names but I did try my best and was able to get a few down :) I absolutely had a great time. I learned that the older generation of Palmers are very very creative and love to work with their hands. They had photography classes, Broadway for all ages, jewelery making, a crafts station which I Loved, wood carving, genealogy, cooking demos, seed germination, talent shows, Dallin's uncle that is a doctor taught a class of prenatal resuscitation which I loved as well, the zip line, and little projects for the kids. We also went to the Pizza Factory which was mmmmmmm mmmmmmmm good. I think the main focus of the reunion was to make something out of nothing. I couldn't believe all the effort they put into this. It was so fun. Of course I did have a hard time with one thing. I am not a camping person. My way of camping is go to a hotel and spend the night, cabin, even a trailer but tent camping is still a culture shock for me because we don't do such things. First of all we picked the wrong place to camp in, we could hear all the cars oon the freeway, the lights from the cars were hitting our tent like noon day, we could hear all the people around us laughing and walking by, and the worst thing was that WE FROZE. I was shivering all night long. We have a 2 men tent ok its tiny. we only had a couple of light blankets Hello husband you've done this before. I froze and so did Dallin but our little one slept like a baby, he even snored all night long. We had him sleep in the middle of us, he did have thermal PJ's and we cuddled him and he was in heavennnnnnnnnnnn. Blake thought it was the coolest thing to sleep in a house that was perfect for his size. We didn't sleep at all but we had a good time. I'll be more prepare next time :) We love our family and the wonderful lessons they've taught us over this weekend. They are all wonderful and we are just sooooooooo grateful for their willingness to teach us and help us learn skills and lessons that will help us pass them on to other generations. We love the Palmers!!
